Product Description

This is an excellent treatment by an authority in the taxonomy and ecology of ferns and related species. It is written to be of interest and use to both the serious botanist and the novice alike. Necessary chapters on fern biology, ecology and classification are provided as well as how to grow and use species. Keys are descriptive and useable with the aid of a glossary and the species descriptions are complete enough to confirm identification as well as include detailed information on habitat and range for each taxon. There is also information on hybridization complexes, which is useful in understanding some of the difficult to identify specimens or species origins. Also included are 270 color photos to illustrate most of the species treated. The taxonomy is a bit out of date, but given the ability to cross reference from other sources and the ongoing complexity of understanding some species relationships, this is not a problem.
