On the Trail Use
I never really liked the idea of using trekking poles until I tried out these guys. The "Trail Shock" are the more advanced version of the "Trail" trekking poles made by Black Diamond. I thought the shock would not have much of a difference. While using some other poles by a different brand and no shock mechanism, my wrist were a bit soar by the end of the day with all the jarring. What the shocks do is absorb a majority of those blows so that your wrists are not soar by the end of the day.It was great to finally descend mountain sides and no have horribly soar knees and wrists from all the impact that descending requires. I love these poles and will gladly replace them with another pair if they break on me.
My only concern is that the flick lock system sometimes gets lose. I always carry a spare allen key with me because the flick lock does work its way lose very rarely. Other than that, these poles are an A+ in my book!

Solid
These poles are great. I owned a pair of the original Trail trekking poles and purchased these one day when I was on the way to the mountain and realized a good couple hours into the trip that I had left my poles at home. They don't disappoint. The shocks are nice, especially on steep downhill trails.

Durable
I love the flip lock system on these! After 12 miles of beating they are exactly the same length that they were when I started the day.

never go back
I have the compact version of these poles and I will never go back to any other manufacturer of trekking poles. These are great, light, collapsable, and they can be operated with gloves. Plus I found them for cheap on Steep and Cheap.

Solid & Sturdy
These are a wonderful set of poles. I've given them many serious beatings when using them only on decent through scree and rocky terrain. After many aggressive miles with them they still look brand new (aside from the normal trail dirtiness) and behave brand new. The metal contact points haven't chipped or filed down at all, the FlipLocks are still on-point and sturdy, the workmanship solid. The shock absorption is very noticeable especially those times were you contact terrain 'just right' and the poles absorb a big jolt. No tired arms, hands, or knees. No complaints. Despite being on the higher-end in price for poles, I'd buy another pair without hesitation (if these even wear out!)
