I bought this jacket about one year ago as a replacement for my stolen Jack Wolfskin Gore Tex Jacket. The quality of the swiss made jacket is very impressing. The jacket has plenty of possiblilities to stow your personal items dry and warm inside your jacket. A feature I personally like very much is the small zipper pocket which allows in every day use the storage of a wallet or my glases.
The three layer gore tex offers water resistance without any compromise and is also very durable. I use this jacket beside hiking and mountaineering also for every day use and it looks after a year still like new. This jacket can be combined with fleece and softshell clothing and is then warm enough for winter climbing. I used it last year on christmas for my snowshoe climb of the Galtjoch (2109 m) in very cold and windy weather and i felt very warm during the whole trip.
As with all mammut products you get a superior quality but this jacket isn't a low budget product. To my feeling it is even considering the pricing of $400 worth the money....

weakness
This jacket is bulky and heavy. I have problems with one of the under-arm zippers: it does not close correctly all the times.
Beside these, it offers a good amount of protection.
