Decent alpine jacket from this questionable gear maker.Tons of features on this jacket. Plenty of pockets and fully adjustible helmet friendly hood. Stretch panels work well during climbs and situations where reaching above head is important. Fit is precise. EXTREMELY Durable! Great quality considering all the crap TNF has been putting out since the turn of the century. The design of the Pit Zips are cooler than you would think.
NEGATIVES:
Jacket tends to ride up and bunches when wear climbing harness over jacket (eg. during ice climbing). Hemline is a too short in front relative to hem drop in rear. Waterproof Zippers are stiff the first few times but break in eventually. All chest pockets are tricky to get to whiles wearing a pack. Pricey at $499, but a deal compared to the similar $599 Alpha SV jacket and you can get these on eBay or post season online sales for as little as $299.
Recommended for serious beginners and intermediates who are considering getting something like an Alpha SV and need the extra saved cash for ice screws, and other gear.
