Untitled Review
My contributions to SP starting with May 2004. are shot with S3000. On our (Croatian)market it was at moment the best buy among cameras with 6x optical zoom (price about $320 - you lucky Americans!). I think it has very solid optics for its class, as well as satisfying choice of pre-programmed modes and manual adjustment possibilities. More suitable for outdoors than for indoors (no external flash, sensitive to shaking with longer exposure without flash). I also got some nice macro shots. When shooting flowing water in waterfalls, I also had good results with fast moving objects. The speed of operation could be faster.

Recieved this camera as an X-Mass present so the price was perfect for me.
The pro's to this camera are ease of use no doubt, it has a high quality "Macro" option for getting close up shots and super still photography. Option to use lesser quality photos with more capacity (1-3mp) and mini vid recorder which I think comes in handy for those 360 degree summit shots.
The cons are, I am less than pleased with it's ability to zoom in @ 3mp, unless you have a tri pod or very stable hands it's very tough to get a clear shot of a feature. And it is less than compact for an ultra light ascent but once again for me, I can not complain it was a gift and will certainly serve it's purpose until I am able to upgrade

Good Camera
This too was a "family" X-Mas present so the price was right. At the time seemed like the best bang for the buck.
It appears everyone is pretty much on track with this camera.
Pros: Easy to use. Photo options are nice.I did purchase rechargeable Panosonic Lithium batteries and battery life is not an issue. Took 300+ photos in the Dom Republic over a 5 day span on the same charge. Probably would not last that long in colder winter conditions however. Zoom abilility is very good but I do have problems with photos being out of focus on full zoom. Cant seem to figure that out. Monitor is plenty big enough.
Cons: A bit bulky to carry around along with the zoom issue is about the only thing that really sticks out.

Untitled ReviewDownloading pictures is fast and easy on both my Mac my Win XP box using the included USB cable.
Battery life is pretty lame compared to other electronic devices but I hear this is pretty common for digital cameras. I took about 50 - 60 shots with the LCD screen off and used up one set of four batteries. Get the rechargables it will save you some ching.
Until I get a camera that I can move and shot moving objects with w/o blur nothing will get a five star rating.
