Route Description

Ascent the hill to the left (S) and walk in that direction towards the dark grey walls of Cueva de la Mora and Peña Sirio (1.378 m), wich are in the skyline. Pass the rock called El Tranvía, placed above the old drinking fountain (to the right). Descent a little through a cistus field towards Rocodromo (1.227 m). Take the path to the left at that point where the trail descent, push forward to Camello on a difficult slope because of the schrubs. Once at the base of Camello (1 h 10 min) continue ascending to the left. The slope is less inclined now and soon there is a flat, go eastwards always passing the walls to the right. La Maza (1.657 m) is another beautiful crag that's left aside. The path climbs to the right so that it reaches Collado de la Vistilla (1.668 m) after a hard slope (2 h 10 min). Descend a little to Hoz Cimera. Surround the N face of El Yelmo (1.716 m), follow the cairns that point to the NE ridge, climb in a 15 m long narrow chimney and reach the summit (2 h 30 min). The descent (1 h 45 min) can be done on the same trail.

Essential Gear

Crampons and ice axe could be necessary a few times, only after the biggest snowstorms of the winter. Wear warm clothes in that season. Be careful in summer because of the hot, some days could be too much torrid, so wear a cap and carry at least 1 liter of water. La Pedriza has a complicated relief so it's not difficult to get lost without a map. Also take a compass and altimeter.
