I added this as a new route, sort of a variation of the Disappointment Peak route already described. However, traveling the glaciers verses the Peak route makes is different enough. I hope others agree. We went in on Monday the 5th of September, climbed the mountain on Tuesday, hiked back out on Wednesday, about a 30 mile plus round trip. Two climbers were coming out on Monday and told of snow on their summit day, but we had clear weather and there was no one else on the mountain to our knowledge. What a difference compared to any other big glacier mountain we have ever climbed. The hike in takes you by the biggest trees I have seen. The
Blue berries, flowers and scenery was great. The remoteness is definitely a feature not to be ignored, some challenges on route finding to the base of the mountain, but nothing technical about climbing it. Over 8,000 feet of elevation gain if you count the ups and downs. It was another fantastic trip with my friend Nick into and onto the mountains of the Pacific Northwest.
