Special shotIndeed it is imposing, but maybe that is because several of us are planning to climb Jefferson in a couple weeks.
How was the traverse and did you encounter any rockfall on that? What kind of protection did you place? I'd be very interested. Nice set of pics you've posted.

Re: Special shotThanks Dean. The traverse had still plenty of snow but was getting very soft in the midday sun. Placed 3 on the ascent and 4 on the way back. But I was not sure if the 3/4 pickets would have held a fall with all the soft snow and 6 people on the rope. Fortunately no rockfall but it is certainly a possibility. The summit block still has snow on it but by the time you get there it would probably be gone.

Re: Whoooooooof!!Thanks Radek, the color is the only nice thing about those rocks :) Jeff Thomas in his book says if you survive the bottom part of the horn you get to solid 5.6-5.7 routes...

Imposing is right!But regal and inviting also come to mind. Wonderful picture of a classic peak. We were going to attempt it in the early 80's but had car troubles only a half hour before the trailhead and ended up making shish-kabobs at our campfire instead. Oh well....
