visit the Paradise Ice Caves, which have since "melted out."
I was not trying to make a scientific comparison with the photos;
it's still a beautiful mountain, with the "potential" of becoming
a destructive devil at any moment. Nature will find a way ...

Seriously, I'm still sad to hear reports of folks losing their
lives in the Wasatch, and other mountain ranges of the world.
But, we all must KEEP movin' down that long and rocky highway!

My love, Mt. RainierI am currently selling a house with a view of Mt. Rainier. Having recently left Alaska and now living in Colorado and learning to climb... this made me a bit homesick. I was living in WA when Mt. Rainier blew. The mountain (in any form) is truly a beautiful sight and so awesome to see everyday.

Are you speaking of the 1980 eruption of Mt. Saint Helens ?
I was there, too! I grew up in the shadow of Rainier, and I
miss it "like the dickens" each time I venture outside.
Was your house in Gig Harbor?
I don't have a percentage, but I think "many" folks on this site
are in the process of moving to Colorado. Happy trails & climbs!

I was in SequimI was living in a log cabin in Sequim when it blew that Sunday morning! I was just getting ready to move back to AK. (It seems I go back and forth between WA and AK alot, lol). I am from a Native American family originally from Metlakatla, AK (near Ketchikan). However, I most recently lived near Anchorage (Eagle River). So, somehow I am now in Colorado!! Learning to climb from "Big Rob". You might know him from Summit Post.
I will keep an eye out for your pics:)

Have you ever visited "Misty Fjords?"
I have a Native American friend here in Arizona, and he worked
at Misty Fjords for three seasons. He said it was totally
opposite from the terrain here in AZ.
Yep, I'd like to visit the PAC-NW again .. perhaps next year!

Re: My Mistake Yes, St. HelensYes, "Big Rob" as in Robin:) I never actually went to Misty Fjords but lived in the area (on a boat) and saw much of the similar beauty. And yes, SE AK is totally different terrain than AZ... a lot of muskeg. But then SE AK is a lot different than other areas of the state! It is a huge state and has differing terrains and climate depending on where you are!
