Ultralight

This is a nice, bare bones helmet. Definitely solid and adjusts enough to wear alone or over a hat (at least on my sized head). This is not one of the new, lightweight bicycle type helmets, but a real helmet. Excellent for alpine climbing without spending a ton of money.

I have taken a direct hit with a baseball sized rock square on top of the head with this helmet. Knocked me flat from the force but only caused a small dent in the helmet.

I really like this helmet. It's nice and simple, pretty light, and I can abuse it without being worried it might snap or rub off like bicycle style helmets.



Both of my parents have them now, and I just bought one for my brother as a birthday present. Luckily they are all different colours.

I have had my Edelrid Ultralight for about 5 years now as a replacement for the my old Edelrid Full Carbon helmet. What I like: good fit, comfortable, good ventilation. It is heavy when compared to the new bike-style helmets but appears to be much more sturdy than these. Overall: Simple and tough helmet, excellent value for the money.

I really like this simple helmet. It stays secure on my head and fits like a glove. As a cyclist I am familiar with the complicated strap systems that have been developed over the years, in fact I worked a design firm that did some bike helmets and and the Edelrid Ultralights simple systems rocks more than most things i have tried.

I have seen many climbers with the cheap black diamond and they usually ride back on the head, but the Edelrid stays secure.

Good solid basic helmet. Had mine for 15 years and it still works well and looks almost new. Fits well after adjustment. Chin strap could be more comfortable. But not a big deal.

This helmet is an example of the value of the gear reviews posted here at summit post. After reading all the reviews on the helmets, it was the comments here that swayed me to buy the Edelrid Ultralight. I'm pleased with the way it fits me and my wife was wondering why I was wearing it around the house all day. (testing the fit and comfort) I mentioned that i wasn't sure about our ceiling and maybe I should get her one to wear too. Yeah, she gave me that look that you would get just before the she called the people at "Happy Acres Mental Home" Anyway, I'm delighted with the helmet and will be putting it to use ASAP.

Great buy for the money. It costs quite a bit less than Petzl helmets but, to me, it feels just as well. It doesn't have one of those little wheels at the back to tighten the head strap like the Petzl Ecrin Roc, but it has two straps that can be adjusted to fit your head.

I've worn it for up to 6 or 7 hours at a time, in heat and cold, and I have never had any complaints. It holds my headlamp very well and protects the ol' noggin just as well as the next helmet.

The helmet is pefect for the price and fit. The helmet is supported far enough off the head to allow enough air movement on the hot days. My headlamp secures and stays without movement. The only issue I have is the adjustment with gloves on, if needing to remove a knit hat the readjustment to fit a smaller crane is a bummer.

This is the only helmet I've owned but I've been happy with it, especially for the price. The fit is comfortable for all day wear (10 hours straight). The only down side is that it sits pretty high on my head and looks a little dorky. But what are you going to do?

I have borowed this helmet several times from my friend beforeI became converted to the idea of wearing a helmet. It is very user friendley. My only complaint is of the egg style. I am now the proud owner of the Petzl Ecrin Roc it just seem's to have a better look for all of the cool mountaineering pic's. This is still one of the best out their.
