A lightweight adjustable helmet, the Meteor can be forgotten about due to its exceptionally light weight, but nonetheless offers excellent, single-incident, protection.
It is so comfortable that I forget that I'm wearing it until I hit an overhang with it. I doubt that it would absorb more than one heavy blow though I have no relevant experiences. I would not use it for long alpine routes.
It does not block upward and forward vision but seems to offer (barely) enough shade for the nose. The vents keep it comforatable on hot days.
A great lightweight rock-climbing helmet. As noted this only for rock climbing. This helmet should not be used for caving. Headlamps tend to work their way off, and maybe that’s just my Petzel headlamp though. The adjustments are a bonus over most helmets. The thing is so lightweight that I'm a little skeptical of what impact it can with stand.
This is all about weight, looks ugly enough...but lighter then my Black Diamond...and the lightest I know of basically...it took a direct hit on Rainier several years back and I am still capable of typing this review today...interesting sidebit...you can thread this bad boy onto your alpine ax (when carrying your ax on your backpack) because it has triangular vent holes, the darn ax fits perfectly snug into both sides of the helmet, so when the backpack is too full, just another way to carry a lightweight bulky item on the outside...
I like this helmet. It is true, that You realy don't feel it on the head because of very light weight and comfortable regulations. In fact, these regulations are not so easy, it took me some time to ajust it for my head, but now the helmet fits perfectly. Thanks Petzl for their great gear. This is not advertisement, they realy do good job.
I just bought this helmet a few weeks ago and used it last weekend (June 2-3). I wanted a lightweight helmet to replace my Ecrin Roc for my alpine forays into the Sierra. At 8 oz. it fits the bill. You really do forget you are wearing a helmet. However, when it comes to adjusting the helmet, the Ecrin Roc was easier since you could just "dial it in."
