I spent many hours on this system, helping a friend of mine complete a graduate program. As a training tool, this machine is very effective. You can go as steep as you want, and the treadmill design keeps a variety of holds coming at you. There are also a variety of preprogrammed "profiles" in the system that vary the speed and angle of ascent so that you don't have to manually do it while you are climbing. And the varying speeds and angles help relieve the boredom of the same speed/angle.

I did find that after a while I felt a lot like a hamster in a cage, endlessly working for nothing. And for the price, you might as well take an extended vacation to a world-class climbing destination and spend a few months.

The machine did have a tendency to squeak and groan as the angle got very steep, which can be a little disconcerting. But all in all, it seemed very solid and well-built.

For institutional use, you get a lot of bang for your buck in a small location.
