I have had this training tool, more of a toy really, for two weeks now. The big thing about this training aid that sets it apart from other hand strengtheners is that you will actually use it. I dont like other hand strengtheners but this one I like to play with, too much some times.

It takes a bit of practice getting the ball up to speed but once you have the motion down you can blast your forarms to your hearts content. You can use it too much though so dont get carried away.

It really does work your fore arm muscles and more of them than traditional aids. You can use it for power or endurance just by making it go faster or keeping a slower but steady pace.

I cant comment on the durability of the product but my students and I have been using mine a lot and nothing has gone wrong with it yet. More later after I have some serious hours in on it.

Update: Dropping the ball is not suggested. :P It does not have rock solid durability but works fine if you don't go around dropping it on a hard surface. Dropping it can cause it to become "rougher" and harder to get started and it will vibrate more.

This training device is not ment for everyone. It takes a certain type of coordination that most everyone but not everyone has. So buy it at REI and if you find you just can't get the thing running or get it to go fast enough to actually work your muscles then bring it back! Most people that I have run across that don't like it can't get it to run very well and thus don't get a work out from it.

I am dropping my initial five star rating to four because it could be more durable.

I've had this Gyro Power Ball for about 4 months now and using only sporadically. I'm sure that it helps building muscles a lot but damn it's tedious...

It's no use training with it when watching TV because it makes quite a sound once you get it going really fast.

More of a toy than a training device in my opinion. I have only used and tried this device a few times. There are a number of people that buy it and then end up not using it because it is not really practical, one has to give movement to the berings inside and then using hand movements increment the speed of the rolling ring insside. This circular movement generates forces that create axial resistance to the device and supposedly can strenghten yhour hand.

Great -
I think that the Dyna-Flex Gyro Ball is a great training tool - allows for me to sit anywhere and have fun. I like that it requires more attention then most of the hand training tools out there. I do consider it a toy, but a toy with benefits. HAHA - plus if you haven't watched the instructional DVD, that is a must see.
