Highgear Atlitech II

It is really handy to have so many features together. It saves on space by combining items, I like having a watch, altimeter, alarm and compass in one piece!

I recently purchased this item and so far I love it. I've taken it on a few adventures into Yosemite National Park and in the Spring Mountains in S. Nevada and it keeps tickin' (even after taking a lickin').

In colder weather (around 30 degrees F) I've noticed a little bit of slowdown when changing between menus, but it is still very useable.

Is the alarm loud? I have a summit vector and have never heard the alarm.

Just got one of these from campmor. Pretty nice. I was looking for a bargain and bought the Timex but ended up sending it back. This seems way more accurate, sturdier, and i prefer the clip design (you couldnt really use the timex without the strap.)

I personally don't care for the compass, since i use a sighting compass, but all in all the feature set is nice. I used it at Lassen NP last weekend and really appreciated the feedback it gives. The alarm is not super-loud, but it woke me up twice at 4:30 am.

Maybe I'm a klutz but I can't avoid scratching up the face of any wristwatch I wear climbing. The clip allows you to put it on your pack shoulder strap or waist or some other out of the way spot where it is less likely to be dragged across rock. Now that I have owned an altimeter for a couple of years, I wonder how I used a topo map without one.

As already mentioned this is good for a variety of uses. The one thing I don't like is that the compass will "time out" after 30 seconds and you have to push the button down again. I prefer to bring my sight compass. Plus I found it hard to get the battery out and am somewhat of an old school guy when it comes to a compass. If you are a runner and want to track lap times, etc this is also a good unit. The final feature that I find cool is that it tracks your accumulated altitude
