I love this jacket. I find that the vents under the armpits are very helpful in varying temperatures. It allows the air to flow and cool you down. Mine is about one year old and I haven't had any problems. It has a nice heavy duty zipper / easy to use with gloves.

This jacket is awesome... let me repeat, awesome! Took it on my first outing to the Adirondacks, which were essentially melting down, streams for trails, droplets like rain under the canopy, snow in the higher elevations, and it kept me TOTALLY dry. Extremely functional, the hood with bill is a great asset, nice tuck-away feature for the hood too. Lots of interior mesh pockets for maps and stuff, two front pockets, and great manuverability in the sleeves. Tough as nails latest Gore-Tex constructions. Features a gripper interior layer so it doesn't ride up. A beautiful-looking jacket too, the Ethereal is well worth the $$ even if you pay full retail (which I didn't!).

Bought to replace my Lowe that was stolen from a gite in Chamonix. Found it for 40% off and the store staff were upset that they hadn't seen it!

The full underarm pit-zips are great and pretty easy to use with a pack on.

The hood is perfect: large enough to accomodate helmet and can be cinched down to allow great peripheral vision. It also can be velcroed to the collar when not in use.

Plenty of good sized interior and exterior pockets.

Only drawback that was pointed out to me at time of purchase is that it weighs a bit more than some of the other jackets in the price range.
