Chugach Pant

I really like my Chugach pant. They are very light, very compressible, and have great heat retention properties. The full length side zippers are great for that transition time of hiking in frigid cold to that time past sunrise, and you do not have to remove your boots or crampons. Since they are filled with Polarguard, I am not too concerned when it gets wet, like I would be with down insulation. I have had them a long time and fail to recall from where they were purchased. I would give it a 5 star rating if it had more pockets. A thigh/leg pocket for each leg for storing a map/compass/protractor/sunscreen, would be great. I have found over time and experience that there is seldom a time when I have too many pockets when living outdoors for an extended period of time..

Very functional and a bit warmer than fleece. Also they are windproof whereas most fleece pants are not.



Side zippers make them easy to vent and they fit well underneath shell pants. The only drawback I've found is that they are a little expensive.

What more needs to be said? Definately could use a couple storage pockets. The hand warmers are nice, but lousy for storage. I have never been cold in these! They make an excelent summit pant, or even something to whip out if your going to be sitting around for a while (counterpart to the belay parka?). Saves weight by adding warmth to a sleeping bag, being that you should bring them along anyway. Little pricy though. Maybe wait a while for something like them - improved and cheaper, eh?

Very nice toasty pants; side zippers ventilate wonderfully. These things are great for hanging out in winter camps. And yes, to reiterate the thoughts before me, another pocket or two would be great... beyond that, I am very happy with these...

I've had these with the jacket for the last couple of winters. They have been used for skiing and snow camping trips. Most of the time I don't even wear a shell layer with these as they are pretty water resistant, even when taking a lot of falls. I haven't however done any winter mounatineering with these (yet). They are very warm and the side zippers make them great with ski boots.

I love thees pants! just rember that when your ordering online to get a bigger size than normal if you are using them as a belay pant on cold winter routes. The ones that I bought were a little bit smaller than I had expected. Try them on first if you are able. Enjoy the warmth and compactibility,and the light weight!

These pants are great! warm even when wet and great for frigid nights. Fits nicely into a ditty bag and are fairly lightweight. Another great feature is the side zipper. Makes an outstanding insulating layer. 5/5!

Very toasty for their weight. Nice sleep combination with an insulated parka and ultralight sleeping bag. They are very durable.
