Aisa (Rigüelo)

Overview

This is the normal route. It's easy on summer but in winter is a little bit hard and it's only for mountaineers.

Getting There

*Aisa:
In the road between Jaca and Canfranc see the deviation to left indicated as Borau / Aisa before Villanua.
Another possibility to Aísa: It is not properly indicated by road signs, but if you bother to ask people in Jaca they might tell you about another road to Aísa. It starts from the farther end of the gardens placed by the Gran Hotel, and offers a little better road (road design and floor quality) to get to Aísa, even if a little longer.

Route Description

We begin in the forest track of Rigüelo reaching the area of Refugio Saletes. We cross the river following the normal route of peak Aspe across the hill in direction to South face of this peak. The pointo to leave the route of Aspe is a little plain with trough (an space to drink the animals). In this point the normal route of Aspe turn to left but we follow to left in direction to the entry between Llana del Bozo and Llana de la Garganta. It's a steepy entry (around 30º in winter with snow) with snow until Spring and even until summer (in this point is necessary the use of crampons and ice-axe generally even on spring). We reach the wide col between Llanas call Brecha Wallon (2.329m). A few of meters before the real col we turn to left searching the less steepy hillside in direction to a shoulder on left side. In some point you need to put the hands in the rock but it's a very easy rock-climb. On the shoulder we to right in the wide ridge walking to the summit. The landscape is beautiful and very wide, a perfect place to enjoy of this area.
