Approach

A map of Ojstrica, its huts...Ojstrica and its routes

The approach from the west goes over the neighbouring Planjava summit, 2394m (or just below it, over the Srebrno sedlo (Silver saddle), 2115m). The starting point in this case is Kamniška koča on Kamniško sedlo (saddle), 1865m, which can be reached either from the south (Kamniška Bistrica valley) or north (Logarska dolina and its upper part Okrešelj).

This part of the route belongs to the beautiful route, which crosses the whole central range of Kamnik Alps.

Route Description

From Kamniško sedlo, 1884 m, we follow the marked path towards the east, which soon enters the SW slopes of Planjava, crosses them (steep, exposed and protected in some places) and reaches the grassy shoulder, named Sukavnik. Now a comfortable path enters the south slopes of Planjava and crosses them almost horizontally to Srebrno sedlo (Silver saddle), 2115 m. From this path two marked routes ascend the summit of Planjava. If we don't summit Planjava, we can descend from Srebrno sedlo to Kocbek hut on Korošica meadow and from there ascend Ojstrica by the south route.

If we summit Planjava, 2394 m, a good marked route follows the main ridge of Kamnik Alps towards the west. It is steep, on a few places not just easy, but without serious difficulties. The path passes a few minor summits in the Planjava-Ojstrica ridge (named Lučka Brana or Baba, 2344 m, 2335 m, 2244 m) and thus reaches the Škarje notch, 2141 m, where the route from the north joins. From Škarje the path avoids the main ridge (now the west ridge of Ojstrica). It goes south below it, soon reaches the south Ojstrica route and by it the summit itself.

To Planjava summit we need 2 hours, to Škarje notch 1 more hour and to the summit of Ojstrica another hour.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
