OfflineA Little About Me
very simply, I like mountains. I dabble in trying to understand that, but it doesn't bother me that I can't perfectly explain it.
The humble white mountains of New Hampshire with their own sort of subtle might were my introduction to the mountains. I remember the moment I became enamored: my family was driving up to the highland center in Bretton Woods NH, a town with a surprisingly far reaching history with huge implications for world politics if you dig deeper ;). On the way there is a stretch of one lane interstate (one of the few examples of this and I think the only example in which the lane on either side is built to standard interstate highway standards: google "super two") that passes through Franconia Notch, a major mountain pass with Cannon cliff on the left and the Franconia ridge and Eagle cliffs on the right. It was night time in March and the full moon illuminated the icy mountain faces. that is the exact moment in time. I was maybe six, and ruined for life. later that trip we hiked up to an AMC hut, which I believe to my introduction to the lively and adventurous culture of these small mountains. I do believe that a combination of the natural grandeur with the culture of the people who revel in this beauty create what i'll call the 'spirit' these places, which is what draws me in.
