Approach
This route starts at the summit of Tohakum Peak. To see how to get there, click here. Once established on Tohakum, look to the south-southeast about 3/4 of a mile along the ridgeline, and there is Pyramid.

Route Description
Descend the ridgeline to the saddle, and then on to the first good obstacle, a rocky outcrop perched on the ridge. To make your route more sporty and less brushy, climb the north edge of this outcrop, staying on the crest, and traverse along the top. This part of the ridge is narrow, steep, and sometimes exposed, making it the most enjoyable part of the traverse. Stay right on the ridge until it dead-ends at a 25' cliff, then backtrack about 10' and descend to the left down some blocky steps. From here, the difficulties are never more than 2nd class, following the ridgeline to the summit over a couple small humps.

Essential Gear
Bring whatever you brought to climb Tohakum. An axe and crampons are rarely if ever necessary. Not much snow falls here, and when it does, the ridgeline is scoured by the relentless Nevada wind. Water is an issue, there is none on the traverse, hopefully you tanked up at the bottom, or stopped at one of the springs on the way up Tohakum. The springs appear to run year-round, but I haven't been up there in the summer to verify that. You probably don't want to climb these peaks in the summer anyway. Long pants may be advisable, as there are unavoidable sections of brush to crash through.
