The Huandoys of Peru's Cordillera Blanca

Photos of Huandoy Norte, Sur, and Este taken during a climb of Yannapaccha, June 2008, and an attempt of the Northeast Face of Huandoy Sur, June 18, 2009.

Having such incredible views of the Huandoy group while climbing Yannapaccha, I was enticed to return in 2009 to attempt Huandoy Sur. Unfortunately, halfway up the face my partner got sick and we had no choice but to turn around. Now I'm left to plan another trip to go back and finish the job.

Edit/Update: Some additional photos have been added by others. If you have some good shots, add yours too! Hopefully someday these beautiful peaks will have pages of their own.

Attempt on Huandoy N

We tried the E ridge of Huandoy N from the Pisco base camp last week but only made it to the col between Huandoy N and E due to very complicated conditions on the glacier approach. The final face looked quite intimitading with an important serac barrier blocking its lower part. No doubt that the lateral (steeper) ridges would have had to be used.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
