short trip report is best I can do...

Just a simple trip report here. The completed road to Downey Creek Trail certainly shortens up this approach. Two or three years ago we exited the Ptarmigan Traverse here, but needed one more day to walk the road. We able to do this climb in three long days. Plenty of water available the entire way despite the low snow year and early melt out. Flowers were gorgeous, Marmots greeted us in bolder fields, and berries were plentiful. We saw smoke from over a ridge to the southeast, wondering how that would develop, super dry and HOT. Unlike our previous trip exiting here, there was no snow in the upper Bachelor Creek, none on Cub Lake or Itswoot Ridge. The long traverse between Itswoot Ridge and Dome Glacier is also snow free. For us, we felt the talus and scree made this part longer a little harder. We just plodded along making our way up, non eventful, but thrilled to be here. One other party ahead of us, two of them opting for Sinister as a second peak. We had Dome to ourselves with the endless view of many Cascade Peaks. The brass summit register was there, but the old Mountaineer register was full, the extra paper stuffed in by someone had space, but no pencil to write with. Descended to camp below Itswoot Ridge where water was abundant. Third day out was long, but satisfying to enjoy another remote Cascade Peak with a good friend Nick. Looking forward to another soon....
