North Fork Big Pine Creek
Returned to North Fork Big Pine Creek with my friend for a couple nights stay in perfect mountain weather - clear mornings building clouds to noon thunderstorms rolling thru which clear out by evening for spectacular sunsets. We only made it to First Lake before steady hail and rain cajoled us into going no further. Not the best campsite, level ground if you got creative, but still sloped. But it was cold and wet out. And we wanted to be warm and dry already. So we made due. Once evening came and skies cleared I wandered round the lake and found a very nice (flat !) campsite just a few 100 yards away, where we relocated to next morning before hiking to Black & Summit lakes, then over to Fifth, and back down shorelines and creek sides, as much as possible, to camp at First. Next morning we cleared out. Until we meet again, mountains.
