Getting There

For this ascent you must deter from the highway in Chiusaforte and travel through Rakolana (Reklanica, Raccolana) valley to Sella Nevea (Nevejsko sedlo) pass, 1142 m. This pass can also be reached from Tarvisio towards south through Valle Rio di Lago (Jezerska dolina). On Sella Nevea you turn towards north-west and drive by a narrow alpine road to Malga Pecol (meadow), 1520 m.

Route Description

South slopes ascent. The red line is the south slopes ascent, blue line is ferrata Ceria Merlone.

This route is not marked and you reach the main ridge over the steep grassy slopes. These slopes are in wet very slidy.

From the parking place you continue in the NE direction over the macadam road all the way up to well visible hut Rif. Brazza, 1680m. From the hut you continue in the north direction to the crossing. Here you follow the signposts for Spik Hude Police / Cima di Terrarossa. But very soon you turn to the right and over nice grassy slope you reach the wide ridge below the start of more steeper south slopes. From here you go to the right on the scree where you go to the end of small basin in the middle of south slopes, below high walls. Now you climb over steep grassy slopes from the basin to the left (in the west direction) and come in the middle of the south slopes. From here you start ascending directly up all the way to the upper wall below the main ridge. From here you climb to the left, to south ridge on the ferrata Ceria Merlone. Over ferrata you reach the summit.

You descend by the normal approach from the meadow Pecol, check the description. Descending by the south slopes is much harder then ascending because of steep grass.
