Short description of our small winter adventure
A small group of nine mountaineers went to two-day journey on Sar Planina - mountain range in north-western part of Macedonia. Heavily loaded with equipment we started from ski center Popova Sapka (1730m) to the west - the direction of Vakaf. After 5 hours hiking in snow we arrived at the place which we chose to set up our camp. We used the afternoon for explanation and training of techniques of movement and securing in winter - snow and ice conditions.
The next day early morning the group went to the Titov vrv peak (2747m) - the highest peak of Sar Planina. Two members of the team ascent first to Mal Turcin peak (2702m) and then passed via small saddle to Titov vrv peak. Then the group returned to camp, packed up and returned back to Popova Sapka. Weather conditions were good - the temperature during the night did not drop below -10 C.
