Overview

This route can be done all year round. It is a good choice if you don´t have much time and want to enjoy great views to the surrounding mountains such as Hoher Goell, Tennengebirge, Hochkoenig, Untersberg and Hagengebirge.
Therefore you won´t be alone on the mountain.

Getting There

Take the motorway exit Hallein from where you drive to Vigaun. Follow the road to St.Koloman for about 1.5 km then branch off to Rengerberg. Starting point is either the farmhouse Reitl or Hochbrunn where you can leave your car.

Route Description

Autumn

In case you start from Hochbrunn follow the forest road and later on a path to the west in direction to Nigelkaralm which is already behind the south ridge.
From Reitl take the path that leads directly to Nigelkaralm.
Follow the south ridge till you reach the Schlenkenalm. It is also possible to go by mountain bike till Schlenkenalm. From there the summit can be climbed via the huge triangle shaped grassy slope.

Essential Gear

No special gear is necessary. Simple mountain boots or trekking boots will do it.
