Pony Express Hawk

Pony Express Hawk

Click image to get better resolution: Actually, this hawk was sitting on this post as we drove nearby on the Pony Express highway, a dirt road in the western Utah desert. I believe this is a Ferruginous (sp?) hawk. We went on to do another Utah desert peak, one called Round Top and its neighbor, Davis Peak next door. We got off the peaks just before the rain hit. That is Indian Pks in the background. 4-11-09

Absolutely beautiful Dean

He seems very relaxed and unafraid of your presence. And the setting and the background all bring it together for this photo.
All the best, Dean,
Marc

Re: Absolutely beautiful Dean

Thanks Marc, that was a beautiful creature. I only wish I could have had enough time (before he flew away) to have had a crisper image to present. Thank you....

Re: Absolutely beautiful Dean

I keep thinking Sharp-Shined Hawk!

Certainly not a "Red"-tailed.

Red? Did somebody say RED ??? : )

Very nice.

Yes, the peak in the background does bring it together beautifully.
