Approach

Take the Brenner Motorway A22 to the exit Mezzolombardo/San Michele all'Adige. Get on S43 through Mezzolombardo and after Rocchetta turn left onto S421 which leads through Andalao to Molveno. Molveno is pittorequely situated at the shore of the lake that carries the same name (868m). To get to the trailhead take the telecabina (a two person standup lift) to Rifugio La Montanara.

Route Description

This shorter but steeper ascent starts at the Rifugio La Montanara. Here you have to follow the signs 'Croz dell'Altissimo' and 'Passo dei Lasteri'. The path leads through a dense pine forest until it reaches Passo dei Camosci. Here the trees make way for mediterrenean undergrowth (that's what it looks like, anyway). The trail is rather overgrown so be sure to bring your long hiking pants.

There are no difficulties until you get to the summit block. The path is easily found and once you are on a level with the summit there is now way to miss your way. Shortly before you reach the summit block the view opens up as you reach a small 'pass' from which you can see the valley floor of Val delle Seghe a thousand meters below. To reach the summit block you need to climb a few meters on a rather narrow and exposed ledge.

This ascent route can be combined with the one through Passo del Clamer to form a neat circle. For the whole trip you must calculate 6 to 8h (depending on whether you can ignore the vistas or whether you have to stop at each viewpoint to take your pictures).

Essential Gear

Hiking gear is sufficient.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
