General Comments

Does anyone remember or ever had a pair of theses?

I bought a pair back in 1996/7 and at the time when plastic boots were all the range, I never saw anyone else with a pair then and have never seen anyone else with a pair since. I seem to remember they were only on sale in the UK for a single season. I have used these boots ever since for UK winters and a few forays into the French and Swiss alps, probably totaling around 60 days of use. After the initial “walking in” which I did to and from lectures, much to the annoyance of college staff, I have found them to be exceedingly comfortable and warm. Having slightly odd feet, one narrow, one wide, one long one short with high insteps one feature that has aided their comfort is the ability to vary the tightness of the lacing along the whole length of the boot. Their trait is a slight squeak which eventually mesmerizes you but very soothing on a long approach route. After 10 years the leather is still supple, the rand around the bottom has remained welded to the leather completely and is only now starting to show signs of perishing, and this only on the front. The only downside is at 1.5 kg each (Size 46) they are not light and after a long day contribute to fatigue.

A good reliable boot
After over 10 years these boots have served me well, but now thinking of replacing them.
