The Veloce is our most versatile model. Beefy enough for the resort, light and comfortable for the backcountry. Using multi-injection technology, Veloces have an especially sweet forward flex that is comfortable on long tours with torsional control for snappy telemarks. The Veloce's cuff is shaped lower and a bit softer than the Gara's for easier walking and touring. The shell's tongue and inner boot are high for forward-flexing performance with broad pressure distribution to protect sensitive shins. The supportive inner boot shaft hugs the lower leg securely for downhill control.

Untitled ReviewThe Veloce is a "tweener" boot, with one buckle and a power strap. As such, it compromises between the beefiness of a modern resort boot and the comfort and flex of a dedicated backcountry boot. But for beginners (I can't claim to be much more), the Veloce lets you ski reasonably well both on and off-piste without owning two pairs of boots. Frankly, you will not need more beefiness unless you're skiing super-steeps, or more flex in the backcountry unless you're doing long distance touring. On the other hand, I think that a very low boot, like a Scarpa T-3 or even a leather boot may serve beginners great value to get a feel for the subtle weight transfer required to make a proper telemark turn.
The boot is step-in crampon-compatible. I do not ice climb, but the size and shape of this boot are similar to many of the plastic ice boots I've seen.
The power strap across the arch of my foot tends to come unlatched as I ski, but this is a minor weakness.
