Lightweight Mountain Boot

The Rebel Carbon is a lightweight boot designed for summer mountaineering. It is the lightest boot in the Scarpa line. The asymmetrical carbon fiber shank makes the boot stiff enough for crampons and for edging on the inside toe, but also relatively flexible on the outside of the boot for comfortable hiking.

These things are lighter and more comfortable for hiking than my La Sportiva Trango Evo S - which I thought were amazingly light and comfy when I bought them - but climb as well or better. I have fairly narrow feet and didn't think Scarpa fit me as well as Sportiva, but was surprised to find these boots fit my feet well - they locked down my heel while still providing more toe room than my Trangos.

The boots are currently on closeout at REI and a number of other retail outlets so I would recommend anyone in the market for a lightweight mountain boot to consider these while they are still available.

Asymmetrical carbon fiber shank provides stiffness for climbing and comfortable hiking.
