I'm not quite sure of the ulitity of reviewing products that are not longer in
production. The new version of this boot is the La Sportiva Eiger With high end mountaineering boots like this, fit is probably the only real deciding criteria.
If you have a La Sportiva shaped foot,
then these are great summer boots. Easy to hike in, but rugged enough
to handle rocky terrain and they work well for moderate ice climbing.
The only drawback to these boots is that
they need to be NikWaxed fairly often to
keep the leather from soaking out if you're in and out of the snow all day.
You can occaisonally find these at close-out sales now and can get them at very cheap prices. ( i.e. < $100 ). North Face outlets sometimes have either these or the insulated K3. I often see them in the used gear shop as well.

No more in production.
I used them with traditional crampons.
I think that they aren't strong enough for rapid crampons.
They are very confortable and water-proof also after a long day in the snow.

Untitled ReviewOn flat trails, they do well but are heavier than neccessary. As soon as you hit stones and rock, they give nice support and control.
On snow, the sole has a good grip and is 'sharp' enough at the edges to kick steps up and sideways, and the heel makes cuts nicely into the snow when descending straight down with heavy steps.
They hold both step-in and semi-step-in crampons nicely, and do pretty well even ice climbing. They are however not tremendously insulated and are not comfortable in very cold conditions (lower than -15 C or so). In the other end, I find them comfortable even for summer hiking.
Overall, I find them to be a very good compomise between hikeable comfort and technical performance, and can highly recommend them.
