I picked up this pack on sale at REI this spring and so far I really like. While it does have a fair number of "bells & whistles", I've found them to be very useful. And even with
all these features it weighs just a bit over two pounds.

This pack seems to have addressed many of the complaints about the original Contour Mountain It has a functional belt and carries up to 25-30lbs in reasonable comfort, but it does not have any internal structure beyond a foam backsheet.

It carries ski's very well and the shove-it patch works well. I particularly like the stretch cord on the outside of the shove-it patch. Like the original Contour Mountain, it carries the weight close to your body to make skiing and climbing with a pack easier.

If you don't need to carry skis, shovels, ice axes or other
awkward gear on a regular basis, the features of the pack are probably overkill. The price is fairly reaonsable and if you can get it on sale it's
even a better deal.
