Alpine Crossbow

There are three sizes for the cross bow pack, 90 + 20, 70 + 20, and ND60 + 15. I have the Alpamayo 90 + 20. This is a very comfortable pack that can carry large loads for an extended winter trip. The compression system allows for small loads to be carried when wanting to go minimal for a summer backpack trip. The side pockets are nice for wands, pickets or a fishing pole. The only negative, and it's a small one, is that the top lid is not removable to be used as a fanny pack like some other packs.

I own the 1999 version of the 90 + 15. Carries heavy loads exceptionally well. Lots of padding (possibly too much) and large capacity means you don't have to leave anything at home. Great for sloggin the Cascade Volcanoes. The lid compartment comes off of mine for a handy waist pack, although I've not used it. It is big enough that if I unzip the compartment separator and put my feet in first, I can pull the collar up to my chest! I still think the crossbow thing is miraculous and don't really understand why it didn't catch on a little better. Oh well.



It is heavier than most packs in this category 6.5 lbs, but, carries so well that it makes up for it. Black makes it hard to find gear inside it, and the bottom compartment doesn't compress very well.

i have the Alpamayo 90+20, it holds 5500+ cubic inches, great size for week long backpacking trips, its an updated version of the crossbow, and it is the most comfortable pack i have ever used. there is a sufficient amount of cushioning on the shoulder harness, and on the lower back section. this pack is great except for the fact that once you compress your pack enough, the side pocket on the two sides of the pack become useless, (fitting a nalgene bottle in a pocket is pretty time consuming, carribeiners work much better than the pockets) but it is equipped with a hydration system, which makes up for the pockets, its slim, and it is a black-hole when it comes to packing lots of gear. if you can give up water-bottle pockets, i suggest this pack to anyone.
