Capilene Expedition Weight

Excellent product. Long lasting. Very warm yet breathable. I can use the top for just about any condition. Because it breaths so well I don’t overheat. Add layers to this and you are as warm as you can be. A bit pricy but 2 tops have lasted me 12 years and show no signs of wearing out (even the zippers) after multiple washings.

I live in this shirt. It breathes great and wicks even better. The shirt is great even against bare skin where other shirts often irratate. I also use it as the only insulation under a gortex shell for most conditions. Last year on Rainier the Patagonia was the only shirt I had on under my gortex and it still kept me sufficiently warm at 10 below. It does show wear after two years of constant wear but that is to be expected.

Excellent for layering. I first bought my first shirt when it was recommended by a mountain guide. I figured he knew what he was talking about. I have all weights and styles now (with and without zipper). I don't leave home without it. Wicks away perspiration and drys fast.

I've had my expedition weight zip-T for about 8 years and it has held up reasonably well. It is very comforaable as a base layers or as an intermediate layer over a lightweight capilene shirt. I frequently wear mine all alone for non-mountain activities when it is cool, such as cycling, hiking, or running.



My only complaint is the pilling that happens on the back of the shirt, wear my pack rubs against it. I understand that newer versions of the shirt have eliminated this problem.

Waaaaayyyy better many other brands. It will cost you a pretty penny, but worth it. I've found that this shirt does not start wearing out as quickly as others and can wash out pretty cleanly too even after being heavily soiled. The only, and I mean the ONLY drawback is the price ...ask Santa (or the devoted girlfriend) to give you one for Christmas.

I have used this shirt for years for a variety of purposes. It has been an integral part of my layering system in the mountains. It has also served me well as insulation along with a wind shirt for runnig on days when the temps were single digits in Minnesota. I bought a size larger and have worn it around town.

I have found this shirt to be functional, long lasting and versitile.

Comfortable, warm and wicking. Great for a mid layer over a poly under shirt. Works well for warmth with a windbreaker overshell. Great for cold weather hiking, climbing, snowshoeing, skiing, etc. Keeps you dry and not too hot.

This shirt is the best when combined with the micro-puff jacket. I love the ability to vent the shirt with the zipper on the neck. It kept me dry even though I sweat alot. Buying this may break your bank account but I finally broke down and bought it. I was so happy I did. I first used it this last weekend in conditions down to 30 below zero and was warm and toasty.
