Jumars are so well proven, and have been used for so long, that the name has come to represent all ascenders ( much as Xerox is used for all copiers )! I have used them for years on 17 big walls and many lessor aid climbs. They are light and reliable with a minimum of maintainence. Highly recommended.

Craig pretty much nailed it. Along with his comments, Jumar's are easier to remove off of the line when needed (ie moving over roofs and corners), as compared to the Petzl Ascender. Proven and reliable.

Highly recommended, have used them for ascending walls to climbing ropes strung from trees in Hawai'i - easy to use, and durable.
