Route Description

I recommend this route as ski tour.

From your tent walk towards the NW-ridge of the volcanoe in NE-direction, crossing the big plateau.
At about 2500 m (8200 ft) you will get to the summit ridge, here the terrain becomes steeper. The ridge the leads you pretty much straight to the summit.

Watch out for fumaroles that have broken through the ice cap. Do not go near them - the snow/ice near them is rotten and you can break through.

Essential Gear

Summer:

- Good sun glases and suncrean. There will even in summer be snow on the way up and around the summit.
- Sturdy trekking boots, light crampons and a piolet for the occassional snow and ice patches

Winter, additionally:

- Randonnee skis, ski crampons are recommended - the cone is steep and has often hard wind-pressed snow.

Parents

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
