One night several years ago I was sitting around with one of my climbing partners. We were talking climbing, and I told him that I had always wanted to summit a peak at sunrise. We had both climbed The Tooth several times and thought that it would be a good first outing for some night climbing. Neither one of us were particularly tired on that night so on the spur of the moment we gathered our gear and headed out to The Tooth.

On the appraoch we used our headlamps along the familiar trail. A liitle below the basin we took a short nap (20 minutes), felt rested and headed up the basin and up to Pinaple Pass.

We reached the base of the climb about an hour and a half before sunrise and made it to the top just as the sun was coming up. It was a great place to be at a great time of the day.

After spending some time on the summit we headed down and made it back to his place for brunch.
