Thanks so much for catering to my laziness. :)

Lots of good info!

Unfortunately, squatters now prowl the pages, and this one was snapped up. Will happily return a 4star vote when called for. Oct 8, 2002

Bob,no problem. ;) I'm sure there's a lot more I can add, but...

I don't know much about the El Cap approaches. Is the easiest route up the Y. Falls trail then along the rim of the valley? I want to put some kind of "usual trailhead" when I talk about El Cap in the page, but i was at a loss...

That's certainly the way I climbed it some years ago. It's a long dayhike, so not that many people do it. Seems if they're going to put in that much effort, they understandably head for Half Dome.

Alternatively, there's another trailhead off SR120, before you reach the valley. I haven't checked lately, but that may be more distance even if it's less elevation. I seem to recall that El Cap is close to the center of the two trailheads.

Thanks for helping out. I'm sure I'll need more help from you on this very soon. I plan on sub-sectioning the page by major featrures: Leaning Towers, all the Cathedral Rocks, Washington Column. I believe it will draw more people to use it as a reliable resource rather than go page to page, hoping there is such a feature posted.

At some point I was going to put up a Cathedral Rocks Page, though I think your idea has fine merit. The one drawback I see is that route section will look like a mish-mash since there's no way to subdivide that section. Perhaps this page could serve as the starter until each major feature gets it's own page, then simply link that new page to the Logistical Center.

I was thinking of adding some of the Valley routes that don't really belong to a major feature like Indian Canyon and Illilouette Gorge. And of course one could always describe the trailed routes out of the valley here too.

I think that's better. Come to think of it, it would look jumbled. Take a look at the Fresno Dome page to see how I formatted that page (ie subdivsions of the dome). Keep the suggestions coming. I'll get started with this page when Fresno Dome is done.

I'm only giving you 4 stars because I'm being bribed by the Russian judge.

(Oh yeah: Nice page...great info!)

Ha ha! I can understand if you have trouble getting excited about bus stops and camp sites. I certainly do! Hopefully someone will find the page useful...

Actually, really it's a great page.

Never been to Yosemite, but when I do, I'll definitely print this out and take it with me...

Just poking a little fun at the "politics of voting" fiasco that's taking place on the message board these days. ;-)

Oof, what a day. This has been one of my most worthless days in the last 5 years or so. SP usually does not provide so much constant entertainment! I think I need to check out for the day...

Excellent idea these logistical centers. Makes more sense than massives. Very informative. Too bad I did not consult you in 1956 when I was there.

Rolf,

Back then, the red tape section would have been quite different. They used to push tons of red hot coals down from Glacier Point to the Curry Village area. This was called the "fire fall". Oh, and the bear regulations were a bit different: rangers would conduct seminars where they would feed the bears while visitors would watch!

Where can I go to get a decent chili dog? Is there a souvenir booth where I can get Ron Kauk's autograph? You're losing you flair, Morgan!

Great page, Morgan! So much information to hunt for, I just can't bear myself to do one.

One style comment: I don't like the 3D looking HTML table borders...

I just adopted this page. Any chance about brining you vote back up? I'm going to make more sub-sections to the page to cover major features throughout the valley. Craig Peer will be assisting with the page.

Thanks.....i'll try hard to keep my end of the bargain up!!

Guess who took possession of your awesome work. I was hoping you'd vote "your" page back up (teeehee). I plan on breaking the page into sub-sections featuring rocks like all the Cathedral Rocks, Leaning Towers, Washington Column etc. Craig Peer is going to help me with a good chunk of it. By the way, how are you and Kim doing?

I think it’s easily a four-star page already...but I’m really looking forward to seeing what you and Craig do with it. Thanks for saving it from squatters.
