Overview

An obsure peak right on the US - Canadian border in the Eastern Townships of the Provence of Quebec presents a variety of options to the summit. There are easy walking trails (blue markers) to the summit which overlooks Lac Lister and the US to the south and Baldwin Mills pond to the east. There are also more challenging trails as well (red markers). There are also multiple rock routes on the south side (lake). These routes are subject to closures due to Peregrine Falcon nest sites. Great care is taken to avoid disturbing these birds especially during nesting periods. Very short hike. Took 1 hour to the summit with a 4-year old. The trails and routes are open from April to the end of November. Parking: 1883 May Road, Baldwin Mills. Which is situated next to the churchyard 250 metres just down from the trail head.

Red Tape

Hiking the trails are free. Trails: 7,9 km. Open: March 31 to November 30 The rock routes require a current membership in the FQME or at least a Day pass. When To Climb

The park is open from March 31 to November 30. Cross country skiing is shown as permitted at the trailhead. But this would be only possible starting April onwards. Strange sort of rule. Parking: 1883 May Road, Baldwin Mills.

Getting there

From Montreal take the Eastern Townships autoroute (10) south. Exit just past Magog onto route 55 south. Exit at Ayers Cliff and take 147 south towards Baldwin Mills. Turn left at May road and park at the church where indicated. (lots of parking). 1 hour 45 minutes travelling time. The trail head is easily found 250 yards up the hill to the right.

Camping

No camping or campfires allowed in the park.

Mountain Conditions

This peak requires bug spray in the spring and summer. The fall would require the normal sort of weather protection you would expect in Canada. Fleese and rain/wind shell. Good approach shoes. Most of the trails are in the woods so sun is not a big issue. The rock routes are more exposed to the elements.

Children

Children

Children refers to the set of objects that logically fall under a given object. For example, the Aconcagua mountain page is a child of the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits.' The Aconcagua mountain itself has many routes, photos, and trip reports as children.
