Introduction
Almost all years my cousins, brothers and me go to Plataforma (1.780 m) and attempt Morezón (2.389 m). It's a tradition in my family going there on Christmas Eve. Only if the weather is bad and Puerto de Menga (1.564 m) has snow problems we change our goal for another mountain.In 2007 we left Avila early in the morning, stopped in a Hoyos del Espino bar, checked our crampons and drove up to Plataforma (1.780 m). We started the ascent at 12:10 PM, there was some ice section on the rocky trail to Prado de las Pozas (1.902 m) but we hadn't to pur our crampons on. Traversed the big meadow SWwards, leaving Cuerda del Refugio (2.129 m) to the left we stopped near a big rock to eat something. Followed the trodden trail almost to the top of Cerro de la Cagarruta (2299 m) leaving Navasomera to the right. Descended to the Col 2.268 m and ascended the final the E face of Morezón (2.389 m). We reached the summit at 3:30 PM being 20 minutes on there while having lunch. The temperature was freezing so Heidi and Paco, who wore inadequate clothing had to descend quickly. The others descent was slow because Nuria was so. I had to wait her and my two brothers near the icy section of the rocky trail because I was the only one who carried a headlamp. Hopefully we haven't to use it because we reached our cars at 6:20 PM.
It was a nice sunny day, with snow from the start wich never was too soft. There were few people on the mountain and the minimum temperature was -2ºC.
