Hi Rosanna. Thank you very much for your the kind words. If this page inspired you at all to go out to Mera then that is the highest compliment I could hope for! All the best to you. Nelson
Thanks for taking time to write this for Mera Peak. This was among the 1st few places I sourced for information while putting together a trip for my friends this coming Oct/Nov (in 2 weeks' time actually) & it has been most helpful.
As I'll be taking my GPSr along to log the entire route, I wonder if you would like to have the route log/waypoints files made available for others?
Hi Malcolm. Thanks very much, glad you like the page. Sure, that would be great to get the waypoints. Also, if you have any new information about route / glacier conditions, the Maoist situation, lodges, etc. then let me know and I'll update the information. It's been 12 years since I travelled the section from Lukla to Panch Pokhari, though I did repeat the Amphu La crossing in 2002, coming over from the Makalu Barun valley.
I see you are in Singapore. I go there about once a year on business and love the place, but now it looks my next trips could be to China. Still I hope I'll make it back down there. (I work for Seagate in Ang Mo Kio). I trained for my hike up Kinabalu by going up and down the stairwells in the Raffles Stamford hotel, the tall building at Raffles Plaza. I met David Lim in the '90's and he and I have kept in contact from time to time.
Mera Peak is a small handfull of peaks I've been looking at for 2009. You've really done this peak justice with a beautiful and well-researched page, Nelson.
Beautiful work and killer pictures!
Hi Skasgaard, Thanks very much for your comment and I'm glad you find the page useful and informative. Good luck in your trip plans. (Sorry for the delay in reply, I have been out of town and offline for a while).
