Every day in the mountains is a good day
These photos are from an outing to RMNP on 6 February 2010. Our intent was to climb "Martha Couloir" on Mount Lady Washington. However, we found the ice and snow to be extremely thin, and even the first pitch involved some climbing outside our comfort level. Fearing direr circumstances further up the route, we aborted after the first pitch and rappelled off the rocks. We decided to climb some ice we'd seen on the way in near Peacock Pool. This adventure fared no better when we discovered the ice was too hard for our enjoyment. We returned in defeat, but as one fellow climber observed, "every day in the mountains is a good day."
