Re: Excellent Report!

Thanks! Likewise: your Wright Mtn report -- some absolutely *spectacular* pics. I have to get out further W some time.

Nice Report!

I agree with your take on doing peak traverses as well, as loop hikes like these have provided some of my most memorable days in the mountains. Thanks for the info on the Wetterhorn/Matterhorn combo, as I may now consider going that way instead if/when I end up doing Wetterhorn.

Re: Nice Report!

Thanks! Ditto your Timpanogos TR. re the Wetterhorn-Matterhorn traverse: reading some TR's retrospectively, I get the sense that some of trickiest terrain on the route is the stuff immediately below Matterhorn Pk's summit (ie the bit we did). Given that that was perfectly negotiable, I suspect the whole traverse isn't too bad at all.

Couldn't agree........

more with your statement, "But, at the same time, I think it’s a pity to introduce a competitive box-checking mentality into an activity that should, for me at least, be primarily about the aesthetics of what you’re doing — about challenging yourself in a beautiful, wild place and about engaging fully with every aspect of that environment."
Enjoyed your report and photos!
