Labor Day Weekend 2007

This is an album for the Labor Day weekend trip with my five year old son and I. We met SP members on all three days.

Peaks Climbed:

Mount Belford 14205 feet/4328 meters
Mount Oxford 14160 feet/4314 meters

Total Altitude gained:

6500 feet/1981 meters

Day 1, September 1 2007:

After a late start, we hiked up Missouri Gulch to 12,200 feet/3717 meters before dropping the tent. After a storm (rain, hail), we hiked up to the Missouri Junction at 12,700 feet/3870 meters before returning to the tent.

Day 2, September 2 2007:

Climbed Mount Belford and Oxford and reclimbed Belford before descending back to camp at Missouri Gulch. Fresh snow was observed near the summit of Belford. It stormed in the afternoon with some snow pellets/hail (small). The afternoon and evening was spent exploring around the basin.

Day 3, September 3 2007:

Unfortunately, Kessler got the flu Sun night though and we had to forgo climbing Missouri Mountain. Around 4 am he threw up in his sleeping bag and I gave him mine. Around 5 am he threw up there too, so we had no choice but to pack up and descend. I packed up in the dark and we headed down at 6am. It was slow going down to the cabin, and he had to stop several times, but not far after the cabin, he was feeling a bit better and we descended the rest in an hour.

He just started kindergarten last week and some other kids in his class had the flu as well. It's going around already. I got a minor case the next day, so luckily both of ours was short lived.

The first thing this morning he ask me the next day is if we can go climb Missouri Mountain.

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
