Route Description

route typehike-easy scramble
max elevation2780 m
elevation gain1430 m from Rifugio Tolazzi
DifficultyEE ( Expert Hiker ) - max I UIAA degree
Time required8/9 hours

From Rifugio Marinelli we take the path n°143 that goes up on the grassy south slopes of Pic Chiadin. We almost reach the summit ( 2302 m ) and then we go down on the north crest towards Forcella Monumenz.

Then we traverse the big Vallone del Ploto until we reach the base of the scree slope between Monte Coglians and Pilastro del Coglians. This part is quite tiring especially in July and August when is very hot. We finally reach the small notch between the Main Summit and the East Summit. From there we have to go on the left and climb a rocky slope ( short passages of the UIAA I degree ) until the summit. The view is really broad, from the Dolomiti to the Julian Alps and from the Hohe Tauern group to the Adriatic Sea.
