Thanks! I made this for a class I'm voluntarily teaching for a local outdoor group, and realized that it is something SPers might light to see as well.
good job, Marsupial! just a thunk; this is harder, but maybe expand on the locating & identifying crevasses (when covered in snow/ice) - this is a fine art and can be dang near impossible in many conditions, but there can be subtle clues (besides location in regards to assumed areas of stress) that would make a great add to the article!
Thanks! I had an aside about that in the original writing. I'll incorporate it later tonight. Though I think I only have 1 photograph that is illustrative of crevasse signs . . .
excellent and informative article. Excellent diagrams, text and related photos.
Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with the rest of us.
Many cheers,
I've had to take some time off due to health problems so no climbing of late. I just finished a course of drugs that will hopefully get things under control and me back in the hills. I have started working out again this week, albeit very easy workouts.

thoroughAs a geologist, I was desperately looking for a mistake to pounce on or something obvious you overlooked. Couldn't find it...nice work.
