Route Description

Livno – Krug Planina – Cincar (2006m): 6h

From ‘Dinara’ hotel marks follow the Bistrica river (right bank if you look uphill). Just in front of the Duman source, bellow the cliffs, path turns left, over the bridge. It continues uphill, bellow the cliffs, climbs through pine forest and reaches foresters house on Basajkovac (1000m). View is beautiful all the time. It continues to climb through mostly oak forest, cutting macadam road on few places. Above the forest you are on grassy slopes of Krug Planina. When you reach upper edge, Mrdjenovac (1251m), view expands towards NE (1.45h from Livno). In front of you is huge Krug Planina high plain and some 7km away, on the opposite side of it, Cincar peak and its massive dome.

From here path gradually descends to Bajilove Kosare, deserted shepherd houses. From here path gradually ascends over this amazing area. On few places it is cutting or using macadam road. It is hard to comprehend how vast this area is because there isn’t a single tree to give you some indication of distances. In some 2 hours you reach Begovac (1385m) (4h from Livno). Here is a source of water which doesn’t dry out. Around are ruins of former cattle farm and mountain refuge. From here Cincar’s dome is just above. Again, it is hard to comprehend that it is still 2 hours till the summit, which looks so close but is so far. 600m of vertical climb awaits you.

Path gradually ascends through small basin. It leaves it steeply and continues to ascent relentlessly all the way to the summit. On the summit is small cement pillar. Views along whole route are open and wide while summit view expands up to 200km and is amazing.
