Marjorie & John (Aussies from Canberra, ACT)
Sierra Ledge Rat (Yank who now hails from West Virginia)

What

Seneca Rocks is a fin of quartize in the eastern mountains of Almost Heaven, West Virginia. It is one of the major rock-climbing centers in West Virginia, second to the New River Gorge.

Where

Marjorie, John and I have known each other for over 10 years. We first met each other during an international caving trip to Iceland in the year 2000. Since then, we have been caving together on Jeju Island (Korea), Far North Queensland (Australia) and Victoria (Australia).

When

Marjorie and John were looking to see the fall colors here in Appalachia. So we chose to climb Seneca Rocks on October 16, 2011.

Why

Why? Take a look for yourself.

Unfair

I had wanted to go out there last night, but it turned out that I was on kid duty last night and today. Maybe next weekend, but those colors will probably be gone.

Luck of the draw

It was a last-minute trip, didn't really plan for it. Got lucky, I guess.
