Approach
From the Missouri Lakes trailhead hike three miles along the trail as it winds its way up the creek to the middle of the three main lakes. Budget some extra time for gaping at the scenery.
Route Description
From the middle lake, head south for a quater mile across the basin aiming towards its southern neighbor. Find a grassy lane that heads southeast, contouring below the east ridge's cliffs and talus, and follow it for a half mile to a small saddle at 11,700 feet. Turn back to the west here and follow the ridge .8 miles to the summit. If staying on the ridge crest, the first 400 feet provide some nice class three scrambling. Easier class two terrain can be found on the south (left) side of the ridge.
10 miles and 3,100 feet elevation gain.
Essential Gear
During summer conditions no specialized gear is needed. The standard "Ten Essentials" should suffice.
Winter conditions may call for skis or snowshoes along with appropriate avalanche gear.
